The wreaths were very simple to make. Just a little twine & a few Styrofoam circle wreaths from Michael's & I was all set. I thought about adding something to the wreaths, but I decided to keep them as simple as possible to show off the shutter & all it's distressed glory.
{{Window Shutter Before...}}
I really did like the original color of the window shutter, but I wanted to personalize it myself, so I made it a creamy white, no distressing needed because of the already distressed condition of the wood.
I added this knob to the shudder, doesn't it look like it was meant for it? It was the first knob I used from the huge collection I scored while I was in Michigan {Check out the collection I got for only 20 dollars HERE}
The wreaths are attached with some simple black string. I am debating whether or not to add some ribbon just for embellishment. For now it remains to look like it's "floating" with out ribbon.
See at the top where the shutter was damaged? Since this shutter is an antique & is very old, the condition was not so good. I am in the process of fixing the top piece.
Do you think I should add some ribbon to the wreaths to attatch them to the shutter? What are your thoughts? I hope you are all having an amazing weekend. My weekend has been very relaxing so far. Spent the day downtown with the puppies and my husband, it's so beautiful here in NC! What kind of DIY projects are you working on right now?? Go share your DIY projects & blog posts on Liz Marie Blog facebook page!! I would love to see them!
xx
I love the wreaths on it. Ribbon would just add a different look to it, which I think it would look either way :)
ReplyDeleteMy day has been cleaning and making 14 cake stands. The fumes are taking over me...
I would vote for some ribbon, just for a little something something :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking some ribbon as well!!! & 14 cakes stands?! I love it.. I have been wanting to make some cake stands ever since I saw your DIY post on how to make them... they are too cute!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW great job. Found you blog hopping- hope you stop by and check out my blog.
ReplyDeleteLove the dark wreaths against the white shutter. And the dark knob--perfect! Ribbons would add a softer look. You could try and see if you like them added or not...
ReplyDeleteLove that you used the shutter and the way it looks as art on the wall. See we Michiganders think a like. Did you ever see my bi-fold door project? Similar idea but different. I use it as a decoration in the living room. I hope your visit to back home here to Michigan was great a few weeks ago :)
ReplyDeleteTake care.

Very Beautiful. New follower from the welcome wednesday blog hop coming from www.thriftymilitarymommy.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHi, following you from Welcome Wednesday! I'm glad you were featured so I could see your blog. I really like the shutter as a decor piece and I think a bit of ribbon would be a nice touch. Something simple - almost contemporary to keep with the clean lines. Not flowers, not multiple bows or overly long tails. Very simple. I'm off to look around your blog more...
ReplyDeleteMe again...I just read through the comments and I agree with Sleppery to use berries or another object that is simple. Ribbon might make it too country-ish and I'm guessing your style is a little contemporary. Can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeleteLove love love this! I am your newest follower...would love it if u could follow back!
