Change In The Entryway...

Hey everyone!!
I am currently blogging from Greensboro,NC.
We evacuated our home on the coast &
we are safe in our hotel room with our furbabies.
I hated leaving our home, but our home is
replaceable, our little family is not.
I hope & pray for safety for everyone in the path of Irene.

This week in the middle of working on some custom
furniture pieces for clients, I did a little adjusting to
our entryway. Ok, so I only added a mirror, but it made a huge difference!
Lately I have been thinking about "chincy" decorating.
For example, my entry table is a bulky piece &
I had a tiny shelf hanging above it with my framed vintage keys.
The huge bulky piece made the surrounding decor look chincy
& did nothing to enhance the area. It almost looked cluttered.
I happen to have a huge mirror in my garage that I had picked up from GoodWill
for $10 a while back that would be perfect for the job....

I'm pretty much obsessed with this ornate gold mirror.
I want more.

Before:

I didn't realize how much I hated this set up before until I just looked
at this before picture. Funny huh?

It's a start.
A good start.
There are many more changes to come to the entryway,
but I like the direction
that this oversized mirror put me in.

Can I tell you where my gold mirror obsession came from?
Well, Pinterest of course.
I think Gold is my new obsession.
I can't wait to bring more gold in through out my house.

The Gold Mirror really anchors the large entry table & adds an element of drama
that was seriously lacking before.

Have I told you lately that I can't wait for wood floors?
Carpet is cozy, but not my design choice.
You want to know why I don't have them yet?
because I can't decide on what wood floor choice to go with!
That's me. Mrs. Indecisive!

Other accessories:
Frame: TJ Maxx
Teal Vase: Hobby Lobby
Scentsy Warmer: Scentsy {Click here to order}
Lamp: TJ Maxx
Entry Table: Original piece
Mirror: GoodWill

Do you love my Gold Mirror as much as me?
Let me know what you think of adding gold into your decor.
I am now going to enjoy my stay in Goldsboro with my hubby & dogs,
& try to forget the hurricane looming over my house back on the coast...
We will think of this as a surprise mini vacation.
Yes. That sounds fabulous.
Say a prayer for the east coast tonight!
Thanks for stopping by guys!
xx Liz Marie

  2. I can understand how hard it would be to leave home in a storm, but you are right~things can be replaced. We live just a few miles west of I-95 (Selma) and we are staying. We've had one rain band come thru this afternoon. Praying we all make it thru with little damage, especially along our beautiful coast!

  12. Love it! I'm totally obsessed with gold too. I used to fight it, but why? I think that's why my house is barely accessorized...because I was fighting the things I loved instead of working with them. Great job! Stay safe...we here in NJ are buckeling down too..

  20. Most importantly, I am glad to hear that y'all are safe, and pray that the storm does lose power and the devastation is nil, or at least minimal.

Love the mirror... I certainly enjoy your blog. Thanks so much for your ideas.

  21. My BFF lives in Topsail and had to evacuate, too. Hopefully no damage for either of you. Not sure if you are in Greensboro or Goldsboro (would assume Goldsboro). If there is a chance you are in Greensboro, you must visit the Garden Ridge store!

Love the Gold mirror and it definitely is better balanced than the shelf over the dresser. Size matters! I understand what you mean about the floors. We need to have ours refinished and I can't decide on a stain color. Oy!

    Best wishes,

    Jenny

  36. Adding a mirror is the best way to add decor on your entry way because it instantly brightens up the space by catching the light and bringing more sunshine inside.A mirror can dramatically change the feel of your space, especially if you have a darker entry or hallway with no windows.
