Changes In The Living Room...

I get asked everyday if I will
do a house tour of our home.
I really want to do a house tour, but I always
feel like my house is never quite "done".
So I decided I would bring you on my journey...
Through changes big & small in our home.
Right now I am really working on our
living room & dining room area.
As you have seen in previous posts,
we are transitioning from black furniture to
white {& a few other surprise colors}....

So there you have it.
All of the changes coming to our living room.
My problem is everything being such a slow process...
This week the entertainment center is
getting painted, stay tuned for how it turns out...

I love my sunny living room & don't get me wrong
I can't wait for everything to fall in place, but I still love
my cozy living room space.

I can't wait for my dark wood floors to be installed
& I can't wait to find white slip covers.
{I have had no luck finding any that are affordable for
my couches, any advice of where to get them would
be amazing!! Thank you} If I can't find them
anytime soon, I will be purchasing some slip covered
Ikea couches. Now if only we lived close to an Ikea...

This part of our living room
needs a little pick me up to...
the wood floors & some new accessories
will really liven the space up.

See that black dining room table in the back...
not for long. I have not started on it yet because
I'm still deciding on colors.
Won't these couches look fabulous with some
white slip covers? I really can't wait.
I love my couches, everything about them,
I just love white more.

Well there is a start to my "House Tour".
I can't wait to be at the point where I feel like our house is
finished, will that ever happen?
My husband & I love DIY projects & we both enjoy
changing things.. so I think the answer is No.
But really, what fun would it be if things were finished,
I would be bored...
xx Liz Marie

  1. I am trying to find slip covers as well. I keep looking on overstock, but I don't see great reviews. I guess the hunt continues for the perfect white slipcovers. By the time I find some... I'll be over the 'white phase.' :)

  2. I love, love the color or your Buffet/Dresser with the mirror on it! Can I ask what color you used?

  3. I feel like this too! My home is no where near as done as yours though. I have soo much work to do in mine. But that's a good thing I suppose! Lots of fun ahead of me!

  4. Oh my goodness...I'm on the lookout too, but for a sectional! You will have a hard time time finding affordable ones (and I am a serious 'research everything under the sun before you buy' kind of person)! My advice is the sell your couch and use the $ to buy either a new one, or used off of craigslist. I have found used ikea ektorps for $150 give or take that are under 6 months, and ocassionally you will find Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, or Rowe, etc.

The room will look great - love your ideas! :-)

I love your couches....I'd say keep them as is! However anything you do with them of course will turn out cute! just like everything else you do!

  6. Premade slipcovers are rarely worth the money. They almost never fit (couches come in so many different shapes and sizes, it's impossible for even a one-size-fits-most), and those that do are basically just baggy fitted sheets that tuck into place with elastic (and usually come loose if anyone sits on it) You're usually better off splurging on custom-made.

I really like the couches as they are. So many people have white slip-covered couches these days. Plus, I like the natural color.

  7. Have you thought about making your own slipcovers? I had only sewn on buttons and I watched Miss Mustard Seed's video slipcover tutorial. She does a great job of explaining how to sew your own. So I tried it. Bought a little Singer sewing machine from Walmart and made the cording and everything else from dropcloth fabric I bought at Lowes. We have a dark brown, 12-foot curved conversation couch which includes two large curved seat cushions and four rectangle cushions for the backs. I was amazed how much fun I had and it looks great. And, I saved a lot of money by making my own.

  8. You should make your own! The nester has a slip cover tutorial Liz, I'm doing it too! Just get some pins and get a few girls to help you who have serious experience in sewing:)

  11. I love what you're doing and your style! I am working on my living room right now... except we are trying to move to a bigger place so it's hard to know what to buy. I have every intention of getting those ikea couches. one day : ) I love them and for the price...you just can't beat it (I've read many good reviews too). So for now. I am working on everything until I need new couches and have a place to move!

Can't wait to see the rest of your house!

  16. I have been looking for slip covers forever for my famiy room. I got lucky a few weeks ago. My mom called from Bed Bath and Beyond and said that they were having a 50% off sale on Sure Fit slip covers, plus she had a 20% discount. I ended up getting two for $35 each. That is the best deal I have seen through many months of following on Overstock, Amazon, Ebay, Target, etc. I hope you find yours soon.

This website has covers from like $30-70 bucks I think. The Brand "X" I was told is Pottery Barn slipcovers, but they can't advertise them as such.
