I was so excited to find this color! As I was shopping in Lowe's this week {my fourth visit of the week, yup. They know me by name} I was searching for the perfect color for my new GoodWill find when I came across the heavenly shade of blue called,
Grand Hotel Mackinac Blue.
One of my favorite places in the world is Mackinaw Island. It's my own paradise, & this color is now my new favorite. I can now make my furniture pieces beautiful with the same color that graces the amazing Grand Hotel on my favorite island in the world.

After:
I really can't tell you how much I love this color. Promise me you won't get sick of it.
I love the unique shape of this table. This would make a great nightstand or end table. Lot's of storage!
I picked hardware to contradict the age of the piece & bring it into modern times with the chrome finish. I love the chrome against the fresh blue. I'm thinking new guest bathroom colors!
The beautiful & Majestic Grand Hotel, Mackinaw Island Michigan
The Grand Hotel is believed to have the longest porch in the world {660 feet!}. & Look at that beautiful blue ceiling over the porch. Love it!
So there is my Grand Hotel Mackinac Blue {by Valspar} end table. I really enjoy looking at this piece.. it's so lovely. I am sadly selling this piece, but I really must bring this color into my home somewhere. & please, if you ever get the chance to visit Mackinaw Island in northern Michigan.. do it! You will not regret it. Have you ever been to Mackinaw Island? Let me know! I would love to hear your mackinaw stories. I hope you are all having a great weekend... Mine has been full of festivals, friends, and road trips with my wonderful husband....
Hubby & his new toy. Next purchase: Kayak rack for the Jeep. A little too hot here in NC to ride with the back open. yah, about that. Hubby & I have recently found our new passion in life, Kayaking.. such a fun hobby!!
Ps. Don't forget to enter this week's giveaway {Here}.
Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteLiz, it turned out BEAUTIFUL. You are so talented! Too bad it wont fit into my baby-supply-infested house! Haha. And I didn't know you guys bought a kayak? If you want to borrow one of mine so you can go together just let me know.. They'll be lonely in the shed for the next 6 months if not! Or did you guys buy two?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love that color. Mackinaw Island is one of my favorite places too! I went to grand school at MSU and took a weekend trip there with friends once. The Grand Hotel is spectacular! Loving this post! xo

Just beautiful! Great job :)
ReplyDeleteIf you are thinking of taking a trip to Mackinaw: We usually stay at the Chippewa Hotel.. It's very affordable for on the Island. All of the rooms in every hotel on the island are vintage and are alive with so much character and history, so any hotel would be great. We usually search by most affordable. We love eating at Goodfellas {pizza subs are to die for there!} for lunch after a long day of biking around the island. I don't know if you like the bar scene or night life, but at night it's great.. you can walk to several bars which are right by your hotel like horns & the pink pony {which is below the chippewa hotel} Here is a great website to help you: http://www.mackinacisland.org/ I hope this helps!! & I hope you plan your trip soon!!! You will love it!!
ReplyDeletePopped over from Sew Catty.
ReplyDeleteLove the colour!

The color is beautiful on the table! :)
ReplyDeleteLiving in Michigan, I have been to Mackinac 6 times, and I never get tired of it. I was lucky to chaperone my kids 4th. grade field trips there. Riding a bike around the island and stopping to eat your bagged lunch anywhere along the shoreline during the 9 mile trek is magical. There are no cars, and only horses and carriages. You can't leave the island without buying some famous Mackinac fudge! The only way there is by ferry, and well worth the trip! Each time we stayed at the Islander, but there are many other hotels that offer quaint, vintage rooms.
Very beautiful!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I have two of those octagon vintage tables just waiting for a makeover (though mine have the uglier ornate doors). Great shade of blue - I live about 2 hrs north of Mackinaw and love it too.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! Great Job :)
ReplyDeleteGreat color.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color! Although I haven't met a blue that I didn't like. The last time we were on Mackinac Island was for our 25th anniversary. We were staying at a B&B and while sitting on the deck overlooking the lake suddenly the door to the deck opened and out stepped a bride, groom, pastor and photographer. We started to get up and they said it was ok...to just stay where we were. Since a photographer was with them I assumed they were there for pictures and I asked if the pictures were before or after the wedding. They said, "This is the wedding and you're going to be our witnesses!" Very cool moment!
ReplyDeleteI use to live in Michigan. I miss Mackinaw Island the most! It's so beautiful there!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory of Mackinac Island, besides working there for two summers, was when Josh proposed at Arch Rock! I will cherish that Island forever! : )
Hope you and Jose are doing well!
That's a seriously gorgeous shade of blue. My guest bathroom is painted a very similar color. And the Grand Hotel looks, well, pretty stinkin' GRAND! <3

Wow!! I love that color!! I think I'm going to go get it just because of the name!! :) I have not been to Mackinac Island since I was a kid. But I remember a huge rock with a hole in the center that hangs right over a bike path. I can't wait until my son gets older and we can take a trip there!!!

That turned out really nice. Love the colour!
ReplyDeleteI met my first love at that Hotel! Very special place in my heart!
ReplyDeleteYour transformation is great, a lovely colour. I saw the wonderful Grand Hotel in a romantic movie back in the late 70s or early 80s called "Somewhere in Time" one of my all time favourites and since then I always wanted to go there. It took me over 20 years but it was fabulous (we drove from Northern Ontario). I even ordered a DVD of the movie when I got back to see where I had just been... now I want to go again. (Saw you at "No Minimalist Here."
ReplyDeleteThat color's gorgeous! And the shape of that piece is great too!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to "20 Below Thursday"! :)
Perfect! The people at Lowes know me well too! I have a personal helper now - LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove the Mackinaw blue! Would you believe, I'm originally from the U.P. of Michigan and have never visted Mackinaw Island?! I've been over the bridge hundreds of times......
ReplyDeleteI love the color, and have added it to my Lowes list. I have a dresser and chest of drawers that need to be painted, and this color is just perfect! I grew up in Michigan, but I've only been to Mackinac Island once. It's so lovely there. I'm hoping to get back there some day.
ReplyDeleteThis post just made my day! I grew up on Mackinac Island, so I was just a little estatic to learn that there was a "Grand Hotel Mackinac Island Blue" color. I must now find something to paint for my house in this color. Your table looks fabulous by the way.
ReplyDeleteP.S. After living there all those years this is such a pet peeve of mine, so I must mention... Mackinac Island is with a "C" while Mackinaw City has the "W". :)
Oh my goodness....I have a table like this in my basement....collecting dust.....my hubby had it in his bachelor pad....haha, hence why it's in our basement now! :) You've inspired me to paint it!! :) I'm a new follower for sure....love the recent baby shower post too! Super cute stuff!
