I wanted to show you a piece of furniture
that I finished this week...
I used white paint & gave it an antique
look with wood stain...
Before....
After...
Staining Method:
-Paint the dresser the base color {in this case it was white}
- Allow paint {I used semi-gloss} to dry completely
-Brush on the stain with a regular paint brush
-Wipe stain off with a damp cloth or paper towel
-After wiping with a damp cloth wipe again with a dry cloth
-Continue wiping until you get your desired look
-Allow to dry & then you can seal the piece
I also changed the hardware out for
oil rubbed bronze to accent the antique look.
I love all the storage in this dresser &
the placement of the drawers.. it's very unique.
The detail in the dresser made the staining technique
turn out great because the stain says in all of the
details crevices...
I love the way this dresser turned out & it's a great
alternative to your average white dresser.
I hope you are having a great week...
My week has been full of custom furniture orders
that I can't wait to show you.
Have you tried this staining technique yet?
How did you do it?
I would love to hear your way.
Talk to you all soon...
xx Liz Marie

Beautiful. I love the drawers too, very unique.
ReplyDeleteIs this your piece Liz?? Are you selling it? I'm going to be looking for something just like this soon... ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
It actually is not my piece.. I kind of wish bc I love it so much. As of right now it is sold but I am waiting on the customer to come pick it up... Let me know if you need a dresser, you know I'm always busy painting away :)
ReplyDeleteLet me know if they don't come pick it up!! hehe! Love my bed you did by the way! It looks amazing. :) and I will def let you know about a dresser soon!
ReplyDeleteI was just going to tweet you and ask you about your bed!! I'm so glad you love it.. you should send me a picture of it all set up! & I look forward to hearing from you!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great Liz. Such a cute piece. I love the little keyholes. I'm a sucker for keyholes :)
ReplyDeleteLiz, this looks great! I love staining. I was wondering..have you tried Annie Sloans Chalk Paint yet? I have not seen any projects from you using it...You would LOVE it...It is so easy to use and it is half the work. I just finished another piece with it that I am going to post about. I still like using latex for some things when I need a certain color but man that chalk paint is so easy. You should try it out :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! Staining is a fun way to antique isn't it?? I actually have not tried Annie Sloan's chalk paint.. but guess what! I made my own today & will be sharing a project soon with me using it.. I do what to try that chalk paint soon though!! I want to see your projects using it!
ReplyDeleteCheck it out. I just posted it...Sorry my pictures are terrible!! Something is off on my camera. I can't wait to see how you made the paint, I've been seeing little things online about making your own :) Glad you tried it. I will say my favorite thing about the Anne Sloan stuff is the wax. I never liked to use wax on furniture before until I've used hers.
ReplyDeleteLooks really great!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait!!!!! <3 You do amazing work!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Such a wondeful job you did (:
ReplyDeleteLooks SOOO lovely!!! Don'tchajust LOVE white!?

Wow! This piece looks fantastic I love it! I've never used this technique but I think I'll have to sometime! I just did a small little craft of refinishing a clock and I did a white coat and sanded it down to give the roughened look.
ReplyDeleteLiz, this looks great! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLiz...did you sand certain areas after you let the paint dry and before you applied the stain?? I will be redoing some dinning room chairs for a customer next weekend and this is the look we are going for (but using the sea foam blue paint). I am wanting to try the stain method but wondered if you scuffed any of it after the paint dried! Love this piece, it's gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece!!
